Three ways to plan it

Set once per vehicle

The setting follows the vehicle in your garage, so a car, a 4WD and an adventure bike each start with a sensible default. Change it for a single route when you want to.

Look before you commit

After planning, check how much of the route is gravel and where. A route that is mostly paved with one rough section is a different trip from one that is half dirt.

Questions

Can a route planner avoid gravel roads?

Yes. Ask for paved roads only, allow gravel when there is no other way, or prefer gravel roads when you want dirt.

Does the gravel setting depend on my vehicle?

It starts from the vehicle in your garage and can be changed for a single route.

Is gravel safe for a road vehicle?

It depends on the vehicle and the road. Loose, corrugated or wet gravel is a different matter from light, well-graded gravel. Choose conservatively.
