West-bound in the morning keeps the sun behind you
It is mostly straight, and that is not the point. The road threads the range with gorges opening off it every twenty minutes, and the light does things at either end of the day that no photograph carries.
Fuel and water are the planning problem, not corners. Carry more of both than you think, and start early enough to be off the road before dusk.
Stock and roos own the verges. Riding at night out here is a category of risk on its own.
