The twistiest stretch of the Thames Coast Road, curling around bays up the western Coromandel under pōhutukawa.
A road that follows the shore bay by bay, so it bends in and out with the coastline. The pōhutukawa along the verge are at their best in December.
Summer holiday traffic is heavy and the road is narrow in places, so it is a road to enjoy at an easy pace.
There are cafés and fuel at the towns along it, so you are not far from either.
