Ride it for what it is: a beautiful piece of road through forest that closes over the top of you, best in early light with the sun coming through the canopy.

It is also the most heavily policed motorcycle road in the state, and it carries tourist buses, caravans and everyone else who read the same list you did. Assume you are being measured.

Under that much canopy the surface stays wet long after the rain stops, and the shaded sections hold a permanent film. The riding worth coming for starts where the Spur ends — keep going toward Marysville.
