The twistiest stretch of the coast road from Paia to Hana on Maui, a long run of tight bends, narrow bridges and rainforest.

SeasonAny month; start early to beat the traffic

Slow, narrow and relentlessly curved, with one-lane bridges and blind corners through rainforest and along the coast. It is a road for the journey, not the destination.

The road is shared with rental cars and tour vans, and it rains often, so the surface is frequently wet. Allow far more time than the distance suggests.

Heavy rain can cause slips and flooding. Check conditions before you go.
