The twistiest stretch of the lakeside road along Lake Wakatipu between Queenstown and Glenorchy, narrow and bendy with mountains across the water.

SeasonOctober to April

A scenic road more than a fast one. It follows the lake shore with bluffs on one side and the water on the other, with a steady run of bends.

It is narrow with limited passing places, and tour buses and campervans are part of the day. Ride it early for the best of it.

The view is the reason to go, so allow time to stop at the lookouts rather than rushing between them.
